Thank you for your feedback. We are considering adding it to our longer term roadmap.

In the meantime, there's a hidden gem of a workaround that will save you a few clicks 😊 When the first dialog appears (before the actual Windows file picker), you can drag and drop your file onto the "Choose..." button. This workaround is possible on all modern browsers.

In our business customers sometimes need extra documents (attachments) to their sales order confirmation. Therefor we need to add metadata to the document attached in order to automatically add attached documents of specific type to the sales order confirmation e-mail sent to our customer.

Check out our solution: https://appsource.microsoft.com/nl-nl/product/dynamics-365-business-central/PUBID.succeedit_5140844%7CAID.drag_and_drop%7CPAPPID.82013fc4-f13e-4b82-bcb0-f56d62c584f6?tab=Overview

Hi guys, I can see that Drag and Drop function to drop attachments to BC is a hot topic here :). This function can be found in a solution called NavSherpa, plus at the same time, you can upload documents with required metadata to SharePoint. Check it out, it might help you with what you are looking for :)

As mentioned previously, the option to have it uploaded to a particular SharePoint library would be beneficial. There would need to be a setup page where you could specify which tables go to which library.

This should be base functionality.

Also it would be great the uploaded file was sent to a specific library in sharepoint.

I would suggest implementing this in a generic way using a bunch of publishers ;-)
The base implementation could work for Incoming Documents but this needs to be open to allow the capture of uploads, populate existing documents and control where downloads coming from. All in all a generic module.

One would think this is a standard function for all current Microsoft solutions, please consider implementing this enhancement as soon as possible,

I miss this coming from Quickbooks enterprise. Every time we view an attachment it moves to downloads folder and builds up. Hopefully drag and drop will also allow working with the actual file from where it sits. We have to make adjustments to attached spreadsheets, and the process of downloading, saving, uploading revised file, and removing the old file is time consuming.

The ability to drag and drop a file to attach to a record in Business Central is one of the most productivity-enhancing features that could be added and it is a horizontal solution (assuming the capability would be added to any location where an "Attachments" fact box/access exists) that would have an impact for almost all users regardless of their role. Also, it results in significantly higher adoption of a more formal document management solution resulting in more reliable structured data existing on any given transation.
