Instead of http://barcodes4.me/ you can use the free Barcode Generator from Insight Works. It's available in the AppSource. The replacement costed me only a few minutes.

I think we'll see many more votes for this once http://barcodes4.me/ stops working on Jan 1, 2021. This is the web service used by Kauffmann in his blog post back in 2016. I'm having some trouble finding a good alternative!

I am surprised that barcode fonts are not included. Business Central is an ERP right?

Licensing a font seems like a really basic thing that Microsoft's army of lawyers should be able to figure out.
And, I agree that the number of upvotes on this particular item (and Ideas in general) vastly underrepresents the interest in an issue.

Any progress on this?

Code128 should also be supported.

3 of 9, 2D, and QR Codes are needed in our company. Perhaps Microsoft could team up with Seagull Scientific to interface with Bartender.

There is another case that is in progress that has, as Kevin Fons states, had considerable work done on it and is currently tied up in legal for font licensing. We have been tracking this for nearly a year.

Apart from bar codes, there are customers who have their own custom font and it is not possible to configure it in a Business Central saas report. It would be very interesting if this were possible.
